WEBSITE 101

We've had many questions from our members about how to perform basic actions on the website. We want the SPTS website to be a real service to our members, so we've developed this "Website 101" page to help answer your questions. Here we will walk you through the most common activities on the site. From login to online purchases, you can find your answers here!

LOGGING IN

Logging in is as simple as entering your user name and password in the spaces provided and clicking the "Log In" button.

If you are a member, your user name is your APTA number. Your password is your last name, first letter capitalized. This is important, since the system is case sensitive.

When you are logged in, you will see your user name in the upper right corner of the screen. Upon rare occasions when the server is very busy, you may receive an error message on the login screen. If you see your APTA number or user name in the upper right corner, you are logged in and may proceed into the site.

USING THE E-COMMERCE SYSTEM

The SPTS e-commerce system is easy to use. Start by selecting the item or items you wish to purchase. You may do this either by clicking on a link by the description of the item within the website -- for example, each home study course has a purchase link -- or by going directly to the SPTS Store in the left hand menu on the site. If you click on the SPTS Store, you will see that items are divided into categories. Find the category you are interested in, click that box, then look at the selection under the tab for the item you wish to purchase.

You can continue to fill your cart this way until you are finished. The example below shows a purchase of the complete SCS Course.

Review your purchases and make sure your cart is correct. You can click on the small icon with the basket, partially covered by a minus sign, on the right side of the column if you wish to remove an item. This works just like your favorite online retail site.

Once you're happy with your cart, click the "Checkout" button. The following screen will appear.

Fill in all information. The system will remind you if any required information has been left out. You'll only have to provide your address information once; the system will retain this information and autofill your form upon your next purchase. Your credit card information will not be retained in the system.

Once your information is correctly entered, a "Thank You" screen will pop up. An email confirming your purchase will be sent to your email box. If you don't receive it within a few minutes, check your junk mail for the message. This message is sent automatically by the system to the email address affiliated with your account.

Having trouble downloading your files?

  • Created an account (if you are not a member). Members are automatically included in our database, but may be asked for additional information.

8. If you already have an account, DO NOT CREATE A SECOND ONE! If you are a member, an account has already been created for you. If you are not a member and need to create an account, please record your username and profile and store it in a safe place. You will be unable to access your downloads if you create a second account.

If you continue to have issues, please email Mary Wilkinson. While SPTS does not provide 24/7 website support, you'll receive a response to your email as quickly as possible!

ACCESSING THE IJSPT

The SPTS is the only Section which provides three journals to its members. However, all three journals are published by different organizations. The IJSPT is the only publication published solely by the SPTS, and thus is the only one directly accessible through our website. Both JOSPT and Sports Health are accessible through their individual sites. You may find links to those sites at  .

To access the IJSPT, you must first be logged on to the SPTS website. Once you are logged in, you may proceed to the IJSPT tab on the left side of the SPTS home page. You may access the current issue either directly from this page, or from the subtab under the IJSPT tab.

IJSPT Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulties accessing the IJSPT, follow this troubleshooting list:

  1. Make certain you are logged in under your APTA number (for APTA members) or subscription number (for IFSPT members or other subscribers). If you try to log in under an account you have created in order to make a purchase through the e-commerce system, you will be unable to access the IJSPT.
  2. Are you up-to-date on your membership dues? The APTA sends the SPTS a roster to update our database each month. If you are not up-to-date on your dues, you will be unable to access the IJSPT until your dues are paid.
  3. Does your network allow downloads or access of this type? Occasionally, there are networks, particularly in medical facilities, that do not allow members to download files from their desktop at work. Check with your IT director if you are having difficulty, and try it again from your home computer.
  4. If all else fails, send an email to Mary Wilkinson for further troubleshooting assistance.
  5. Note: The Section does not provide 24/7 IT support for the website. Your email will, however, be answered as quickly as possible.

Forgot your password?

Simply click the "Forgot Password" button and type in your email address when prompted. You will receive your password by return email.

Note if you are a member: Your username is your APTA membership number. Your password is your last name (case sensitive: for example, Smith, not SMITH or smith)

Account Notes

If you are a member, you already have an account created for you. Your username is your APTA membership number. Your password is your last name (case sensitive: for example, Smith, not SMITH or smith). Do not create a second account.

If you are not a member and need to create an account, please record your username and password and store it in a safe place once you create your account.

If you already have an account, DO NOT CREATE A SECOND ONE! You will be unable to access your downloads if you create a second account.
