The physical therapy profession is broad-based and diverse, representing a variety of specialized practice areas. Reflecting this diversity of practice, the American Physical Therapy Associations (APTA) offers individual memberships in its 19 nationwide special-interest organizations. These "sections" as they're known, provide a forum in which physical therapists can exchange ideas and techniques unique to their area of practice.

If you are interested in sports medicine and healthy orthopedics, then this is the place for you! Over 7,000 strong, the Sports Physical Therapy Section is the second-largest section among the APTA’s components.

The Sports Physical Therapy Section addresses the needs of members interested in athletic injury management, including acute care, treatment and rehabilitation, prevention and education.
